BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College softball team will host No. 4-ranked Florida Southwestern State College in a Citrus Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
The Titans, who are coming off a couple of losses to No. 5 Indian River State College on Thursday, will now host Florida Southwestern beginning at 1 p.m. at Titan Softball Complex.
Florida Southwestern has won six in a row and is 7-1 in the conference standings, while the Titans are now 4-2.
The Bucs are second in the FCSAA in team ERA with a 1.13 and have two pitchers in the top three in ERA this season, as Lizzy Kwakernaak has a 0.88 ERA, while teammate Zoe Yzaguirre is right behind her with a 0.94 ERA.
The Titans come into the doubleheader leading the FCSAA in batting average, hitting .418 heading into Saturday’s matchup. Jaelynne Whipple is hitting .523 this season, while Aracelis Jimenez is hitting .509. Teammate Annelynne Duncan is tied for first in the state in runs batted in with 38.
It will be the first meeting of the season between the two programs, with the Titans coming into the matchup ranked sixth in the national poll.

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team is back home on Saturday afternoon for a Citrus Conference doubleheader against Hillsborough Community College.
The Titans are 5-5 in the Citrus Conference and won the first game of the series on Thursday, 20-4. The Titans hit five home runs in the game as Shane Thomas finished with four hits in the win.
Hillsborough Community College will look to rebound on Saturday as the Hawks are now 4-6 in the conference standings. The Hawks are hitting .310 this season and are led by Nick Palmi who is hitting .439 in 23 games this season with 32 RBI.
Eastern Florida State College’s Andrew Prieto is coming off a big day on Thursday with a grand slam and five RBI and is hitting .382 this season.
Parker Trowbridge is scheduled to get the ball on Saturday and is second in the FCSAA in earned run average with a 2.95 ERA over six starts.
