Suntree United Methodist Church is getting ready once again for Suntree Stars & Stripes, a large and completely free patriotic celebration on Sunday, June 29, on the church grounds at 7400 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA — Suntree United Methodist Church is getting ready once again for Suntree Stars & Stripes, a large and completely free patriotic celebration on Sunday, June 29, on the church grounds at 7400 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne.

It’s old-fashioned summer fun of the best kind. The food and fun start at 4:30 p.m., with an assortment of outdoor activities and lawn games.

More minor children will enjoy the bounce house, while Corn Toss, Jumbo Jenga, Big Connect 4, and inflatable jousting will satisfy older kids and adults.

Bring your appetite for a free meal of hamburgers and hot dogs, served with chips, cookies, watermelon, and more.

At 6:30 p.m., the action moves indoors for a concert of patriotic favorites featuring the Melbourne Municipal Band, led by conductor Staci Rosbury, along with the Suntree Chancel Choir and members of the Brevard Community Chorus under the direction of Nick Barth.

Pastor of Worship Arts for Suntree United Methodist Church, Mike Mayes, is looking forward to welcoming old and new friends at the popular annual Suntree Stars & Stripes.

“Suntree United Methodist Church is happy to invite the whole community for this wonderful family picnic and patriotic concert,” said Pastor Mayes. “Sharing a meal, music, and fellowship with our neighbors is part of what it means to be American.”

The Suntree Chancel Choir and members of the Brevard Community Chorus will take part in the patriotic concert at Suntree Stars & Stripes June 29, at Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne. ABOUT THE MELBOURNE MUNICIPAL BAND and Staci Rosbury, Conductor

For nearly 60 years, the Melbourne Municipal Band has performed an exciting variety of musical concerts.

The MMB concert band, Swingtime, its 22-piece jazz orchestra, and the 12-piece Rock & Roll Revue perform a diverse range of music, including popular tunes, themes from Broadway and Hollywood, patriotic songs and marches, classical music, and Big Band swing selections.

One-third of MMB members are professional musicians and music educators. Many of them are alumni of top military bands and nationally known musical groups.

Also performing as part of the MMB family are multiple ensembles, including Swingtime Lite, Oh Golly Dixieland Band, Adagio Sax Quartet, Sunshine Brass Quintet, the Swingtimers Vocal Trio, the Mel-bones, and 3 Gen Flutes.

Staci Rosbury is enjoying her fifteenth season as Conductor of the Melbourne Municipal Band. She began her career in the band as a flute player, board member, and Associate Conductor.

Rosbury graduated from the University of Florida with her bachelor’s in music education and with her Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting.

After serving as the Director of Admissions and Undergraduate Advising for the School of Music at the University of Florida, she taught band and general music in Florida Public Schools. She became increasingly involved in the Central Florida community music and theater scene.

Rosbury served as music director for shows at the Henegar Center and has played flute with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Central Florida Winds & Chamber Winds, Space Coast Flute Orchestra, and the MMB.

She is currently the Administrator for the Indian River Symphonic Association, which hosts a concert series of national and international orchestras each year in Vero Beach.

She is also a new member of the board of the Association of Concert Bands, a national organization whose mission is to foster excellence in Concert Band music through performance, education, and advocacy.
