Suntree United Methodist Church Adds Reverend Lisa Degrenia as Spiritual and Administrative Leader

BREVARD COUNTY • SUNTREE, FLORIDA — Suntree United Methodist Church in north Melbourne has announced the addition of Reverend Lisa Degrenia as senior pastor.

As such, Degrenia will serve as the spiritual and administrative leader of the Suntree congregation. She will also help shape the church’s vision and ministry priorities, lead worship, preach, and ready the staff and laity for ministry.

Prior to her ministry journey, Lisa Degrenia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of South Florida. After being called to the role of pastor, she earned a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2000 and became an ordained United Methodist minister in 2003.

Since that time, the Tampa native has served in the Florida Conference of United Methodist Churches, with congregations in Largo, St. Petersburg, DeBary, Sarasota, and most recently, New Smyrna Beach.

Additionally, Rev. Degrenia serves as a national team leader for The Caring Congregation, a nonprofit organization that provides resources, training, and guidance to help churches cultivate cultures of care.

Reverend Degrenia and her husband reside in Suntree and are parents to two grown daughters. Suntree United Methodist Church, located at 7400 North Wickham Road in North Melbourne, serves the spiritual needs of over 1,000 residents in the Suntree/Viera area.

Degrenia sees the role of senior pastor as a means to help people discover faith, grow in faith, and live their faith for the common good of the community.

“My top priorities are listening, learning, and getting to know both our church family and the community we’re called to serve,” said the senior pastor. “I see myself as a ‘spiritual midwife,’ helping to birth new life in people, congregations, and communities. No one has to hide in order to belong. God’s arms are open wide in welcome.”

Suntree United Methodist Church has been serving Brevard County since 1983. Its mission is to “Love God, love each other, and love our neighbors in extraordinary ways.” The church offers traditional services at 10:30 a.m. and a contemporary service at 9:00 a.m.
