BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The 12U Little League Florida State Tournament, taking place at Tim Wakefield Sports Complex in Eau Gallie, has reached the Championship game. The defending Little League World Series champions, Lake Mary and Tampa Bayshore, will face off at 10 a.m. Sunday at Field 3 at Crane Park.

You can catch all the action Live on Space Coast Daily TV starting at 10 a.m., with Orville Susong and Zane Garcia on the call.

How they got here: Lake Mary swept through Pool A, beating Chaires-Capitola first on Friday, 19-0. Dominating performance that ended early after just three innings, then starting off Saturday morning at 10 a.m., they took down Lakewood Ranch 9-1.

Pool A consisted of Lake Mary, Lakewood Ranch, Chaires-Capitola, and Windermere. After defeating those first two teams, Windermere was the last team remaining. Windermere came to play themselves, winning their first two just as Lake Mary, but the continuity and hot bats of Lake Mary would be too much, and Lake Mary cruised to an 11-1 victory.

Bayshore went through Pool B with relative ease as they beat East Boyton Beach in their first game 2-0, which would be their closest match.

Waking up the next day after a nail-biter, they would dominate LaBelle 17-3, which ultimately gave them the momentum they were looking for. North Springs was Bayshore’s competition in Pool B, and after they defeated LaBelle on Friday night, that set up a showdown between Bayshore and North Springs.

Bayshore’s defense was on full display, though, and it started with pitcher Sean Lannan, who threw five shutout innings. Bayshore would win it 9-0.

What’s at stake?

The winner of Lake Mary and Bayshore will move on to the Little League Baseball Southeast Regional Tournament in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The regional tournament will be held from July 31 to August 5 and feature the state champions from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The road to Williamsport is becoming increasingly closer, and Lake Mary is trying to return to the World Series, while Bayshore is looking to make it there for the first time ever
