Brevard County Leaders Leave Messages of Hope at Future Riverstone K–12 School

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools staff, elected officials and community partners gathered Tuesday inside the future Riverstone K–12 Separate Day School to leave messages of hope, encouragement and belonging on the walls before the school opens in January 2027.

U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos, Brevard School Board Chair Matt Susin, School Board members Gene Trent, Megan Wright and Katye Campbell, and BPS Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell were among those in attendance.

The new facility is being designed specifically to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment for students with unique educational needs who require specialized instruction and therapeutic support.

The purpose-built school represents a significant investment in creating an educational setting centered on student needs. It will include dedicated areas supporting academic development, independence, communication and overall well-being.

Before the walls are painted and construction is completed, attendees were invited to write inspirational words, positive affirmations and uplifting messages throughout the building.

Although the messages will eventually be covered as construction progresses, they will remain part of the school’s foundation and mission.

The messages are intended to remind Riverstone students, families and staff that they are valued, supported and surrounded by a community that believes in their ability to learn, grow and thrive.
