Palm Bay Police Announce New 20 MPH School Zone Near Sunrise Elementary

The Palm Bay Police Department has announced the activation of a new school zone in the area of Sunrise Elementary School to enhance student safety during peak arrival and dismissal times. The new 20-mile-per-hour speed zone is located on Mara Loma Boulevard and went into effect this week.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department has announced the activation of a new school zone in the area of Sunrise Elementary School to enhance student safety during peak arrival and dismissal times.

The new 20-mile-per-hour speed zone, located on Mara Loma Boulevard, went into effect this week.

The designated school zone will be enforced Monday through Friday during the academic year. Speed restrictions will be active from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. On early release days, the afternoon zone will operate from 1 – 2 p.m.

The police department has emphasized the importance of driver awareness and adherence to the new speed limits. Officers will be present in the area to monitor compliance and ensure the safety of students, staff, and families traveling to and from the school.

Palm Bay Police urge all motorists to slow down, stay alert, and exercise caution in and around school zones. The department remains committed to protecting children and fostering safe routes in the community.
