FDOT to Host Open House to Detail State Roads A1A and 528 Improvements in Brevard

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Florida Department of Transportation will hold a project open house regarding proposed plans on State Road A1A from State Road 520 to George King Boulevard and State Road 528/State Road 524 Beachline Expressway from west of Sykes Creek to State Road 401 on Thursday, October 30.

The in-person open house will be held at the City of Cape Canaveral Community Center, 7920 Orange Avenue, Cape Canaveral, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In addition to resurfacing these roadway segments, the project will include pedestrian safety improvements on State Road A1A, including a new signalized pedestrian crossing at Taylor Avenue.

The crossing will have an overhead, pedestrian-activated signal known as a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon.

Another potential safety enhancement is installing new guardrails to close gaps at select locations along State Road 528/State Road 524 from east of U.S. 1 to George King Boulevard.

Attendees will be able to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.

To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:

Visitors to the page may watch the project presentation, view project exhibits, and submit comments and questions directly to the project manager. Project materials will be available beginning Thursday, October 30, and will be the same as those shared at the in-person open house.

While the information will remain on the website throughout the project, please provide comments or questions by November 10 to have the comments included in the open house record.
