BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers in the Pelican Drive area following a planned water main repair.

According to city officials, water service will be temporarily shut off to properties along Pelican Drive from 140 through 440 and at 150 Ocean Boulevard while crews perform the repair. Once water service is restored, residents and businesses in the affected area are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes.

City officials said a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient to ensure water safety. Bottled water may also be used as an alternative during the notice period.

The precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until bacteriological testing confirms that the water is safe to drink. Stay tuned to Space Coast Daily for updates.
