West Melbourne Police Department Mourns Unexpected Passing of Captain Carlos Navedo

The West Melbourne Police Department is mourning the unexpected passing of Captain Carlos Navedo on Saturday. Carlos joined the agency as a civilian desk officer in 2002 and then attended the police academy shortly thereafter. He was sworn in as a police officer in 2003 and has honorably served the citizens of West Melbourne in many capacities over the years and achieved the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The West Melbourne Police Department is mourning the unexpected passing of Captain Carlos Navedo on Saturday.

“On behalf of the Command Staff of the West Melbourne Police Department, I regret to inform our community of the passing of Captain Carlos Navedo as a result of an off-duty medical episode,” said a West Melbourne Police Department official.

Carlos joined the agency as a civilian desk officer in 2002 and then attended the police academy shortly thereafter. He was sworn in as a police officer in 2003 and has honorably served the citizens of West Melbourne in many capacities over the years.

Navedo achieved the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain.

“This is a huge loss and Carlos will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters at the West Melbourne Police Department,” said a West Melbourne Police Department official. “We ask that you keep his wife and son in your prayers during this difficult time.”
