BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The aroma of slow-smoked barbecue, the sounds of live music, and the excitement of family-friendly fun will fill the Eastern Florida State College Melbourne Campus on Saturday, February 21, as the EFSC Foundation hosts its 10th Annual Backyard BBQ & Family Fest, a community celebration dedicated to raising money for student scholarships.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the EFSC Melbourne Campus, located at 3865 N. Wickham Road, and is expected to draw hundreds of residents from across Brevard County for an afternoon of food, entertainment, and philanthropy.

More than 20 local barbecue teams will fire up their grills and smokers, competing for the coveted $1,500 Grand Champion prize, along with bragging rights and the popular People’s Choice Award. Guests will have the opportunity to sample a wide variety of barbecue styles and flavors and cast their votes for their favorite teams.

Organizers say the festival has grown steadily over the past decade, becoming one of the EFSC Foundation’s signature fundraising events.

“All proceeds from the Backyard BBQ & Family Fest directly support student scholarships at Eastern Florida State College,” foundation representatives said.

“These scholarships help remove financial barriers for students pursuing certificates, associate degrees, and workforce training programs.”
