BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville Police Department is honoring the life and service of retired K9 Draco, whose End of Watch was February 12, 2026.

K9 Draco, a dual-certified police dog trained in tracking, apprehension and narcotics detection, served the department and the Titusville community with distinction for nearly a decade.

Placed into service in 2013, Draco worked alongside two dedicated handlers during his career, forming strong bonds while playing a critical role in public safety operations.

Throughout his years on the force, Draco assisted in locating suspects, tracking individuals across challenging terrain and detecting illegal narcotics. His work not only supported officers in the field but also helped protect residents and strengthen the department’s crime-fighting efforts.

In 2021, Draco retired from active duty with K9 Officer Lengefeld, closing out a career defined by loyalty, courage and unwavering dedication.

After retirement, he spent the last five years enjoying a well-earned life of rest, play and companionship with the Lengefeld family.

Department officials said Draco’s impact extended beyond his operational success. His partnership with his handlers exemplified the trust and teamwork that define K9 units, and his presence left a lasting mark on the agency and the community he served.

As the department reflects on his life, they remember not only a highly skilled police K9, but also a beloved companion.
