BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Alvin “Mike” Michael Dickey, 75, of Titusville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Mike was born in Flora, Illinois, where he graduated from Flora High School.

During his time there, he played football under Coach Al Werneke and also earned a baseball scholarship to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he later received his bachelor’s degree.

His love of athletics and mentorship would go on to shape much of his life and career.

In 1976, Coach Werneke offered Mike an opportunity to coach alongside him at Titusville High School.

Without hesitation, Mike made the drive within 24 hours to interview—and got the job that would define his career and impact generations of students and athletes.

Mike relocated to Florida and went on to dedicate more than 30 years to Titusville High School, where he was best known for coaching and teaching driver’s education.

Over the years, he became a familiar and trusted presence in the community, helping countless students gain confidence behind the wheel and in life.

Family was always Mike’s top priority. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan. He cheered faithfully for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Florida Gators, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whether watching a game or sharing stories, he had a way of bringing people together.

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen.

He is survived by his daughter Kerri Malechuk (Tylor); sons: Ryan Dickey (Marie) and JD Dickey; grandchildren: Joey Malechuk, Kensi Haley, Caden Dickey, Brayden Dickey, Travis Dickey, and Jonathan Dickey Jr.; as well as 5 great grandchildren.

Mike’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—as a coach, a teacher, and a man who truly valued people above all else. And in true Mike fashion, he once jokingly wrote his own obituary in just three simple words: “Dickey is dead.”

Those who knew and loved him know he would have gotten a laugh out of that—and probably expected everyone else to as well.

Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at New Fellowship Baptist Church at 5:30 p.m.
