BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Space Coast Daily’s Zane Garcia recently spoke with Melbourne head football coach Jeff Pannucci and members of the Bulldogs’ offensive line about summer workouts and expectations for the upcoming season.

The Bulldogs finished 6-5 last season, securing a winning record and leaving Pannucci and his staff optimistic about the direction of the program.

Melbourne opened the 2025 season with a 6-2 record through its first eight games before ending the year on a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs closed the season with challenging matchups against Viera, Palm Beach Gardens and Armwood in the playoffs.

Despite the disappointing finish, Melbourne returns several key contributors on both sides of the ball.

An experienced offensive line returns to pave the way for standout running back Tyrese Jefferson, who is expected to once again be a focal point of the ground game.

The Bulldogs also bring back the Hall brothers, starting quarterback Edrick Hall and wide receiver Ej Hall, giving the offense valuable continuity and experience.

Defensively, Melbourne returns several key players, including Kamari Jennings and Silas Walters, who recorded 5.5 sacks last season.

The Bulldogs face a difficult schedule in 2026, opening the season against Cocoa, Heritage and Merritt Island. Pannucci said he intentionally scheduled challenging non-district opponents to prepare his team for a potential postseason run.

With the season quickly approaching, Melbourne enters the year with confidence and high expectations.

Although the offensive line features several younger players, the unit has embraced the challenge and is eager to compete against some of the area’s top teams.
