President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his endorsement of U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds in Florida’s 2026 gubernatorial race, calling the Republican congressman a “total winner” who would advance the administration’s America First agenda in Tallahassee.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his endorsement of U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds in Florida’s 2026 gubernatorial race, calling the Republican congressman a “total winner” who would advance the administration’s America First agenda in Tallahassee.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said he knows Donalds well and has watched him face challenges “at the highest and most difficult levels.”
“Byron Donalds will be a truly Great and Powerful Governor for Florida, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.
Trump said Donalds would work closely with him on border security, crime, military readiness, veterans’ issues and American energy production. He also highlighted Donalds’ support for tax and regulatory reductions, American manufacturing and Second Amendment rights.
“As Governor, Byron will have a BIG Voice, and work closely with me to advance our America First Agenda,” Trump wrote.
The president also praised Donalds’ wife, Erika, and their three sons. Donalds lives in Naples and has represented Florida’s 19th Congressional District, which includes portions of Lee and Collier counties, since 2021. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Donalds’ congressional biography confirms his district and legislative background.
Donalds reacted to the news with the following: “Thank you, Mr. President, for the honor of your endorsement. I will not let you down. We will defend the Florida Dream!
Donalds launched his gubernatorial campaign in 2025 and is seeking to succeed Gov. Ron DeSantis, who cannot run for another consecutive term because of Florida’s term limits. Trump endorsed Donalds ahead of the congressman’s formal entrance into the race and has continued to promote his candidacy.
The endorsement comes during the closing stretch of Florida’s primary campaign.
The state’s Primary Election is scheduled for Aug. 18, with the General Election set for Nov. 3.
