Tropical Wave in Eastern Atlantic Has 60% Chance of Development: NHC Report

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave and associated area of low pressure in the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean.
The system was centered a few hundred miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands and was producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more favorable for development, and a tropical depression could form by the middle to latter portions of the week.
The disturbance is expected to move west to west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 30% chance of developing during the next 48 hours and a 60% chance during the next seven days.
It remains too early to determine whether the system will pose a threat to Florida or other land areas.
Residents should continue monitoring future forecasts as the disturbance moves across the Atlantic.
