Brevard Middle School Students Tackle Real-World STEM Challenges in Annual L3Harris STEM Challenge

STEM competition continues through April 10 at BPS Educational Services Facility

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The L3Harris STEM Challenge, a hands-on STEM competition began on April 8, and continues through April 10, at the Brevard Public Schools Educational Services Facility, located at 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Melbourne.
The L3Harris STEM Challenge is an annual middle school competition where students apply STEM skills learned throughout the year to complete a series of interactive challenges. A total of 22 teams comprised of 7th and 8th grade student teams from 9 Brevard County middle schools will compete, with over 120 students participating overall.
Sponsored by L3Harris Technologies, this event gives students hands-on experience with engineering, technology, and problem-solving. STEM professionals from L3Harris and other space industry leaders, Brevard Public Schools educators and administrators, and community and corporate partners supporting STEM education will also be joining.

Competition Schedule:
● Wednesday, April 9 – 7th grade students
● Thursday, April 10 – 8th grade students
● 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. each day
● Competitions from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The competition is designed to provide students with real-world STEM experiences, fostering skills in collaboration, communication, coding, and engineering.
On site you’ll find students designing and building solutions in real time, coding activities using Adafruit Circuit PlaygroundTM and MakeCodeTM Arcade, teams collaborating in breakout challenges, and community volunteers mentoring students
