Multiple Brevard Fire Rescue Crews Responded to Major Blaze at Merritt Island U-Haul Storage Facility

Brevard County Fire Rescue crews from Stations 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, and Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, and Merritt Island Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at a storage facility on Fortenberry Road on Merritt Island this week. BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue crews from Stations 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, and Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, and Merritt Island Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at a the U-Haul storage facility on Fortenberry Road next to Merritt Square Mall this week.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and multiple storage units on fire, and crews were able to quickly make access and knock the fire down.

There were no injuries related to the fire, but many units had significant smoke damage.

After the initial response, the Brevard County fire marshal, assistant fire marshal, and several fire inspectors arrived on scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
