BREVARD COUNTY • CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The fifth launch of the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 551 rocket carrying the next batch of production satellites for Amazon Leo, Leo 5, is now planned for Saturday, April 4, 2026.

The 29-minute launch window opens at 1:45 a.m. EDT and will launch from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

The constellation, which is expected to include more than 3,000 satellites, aims to provide fast, reliable broadband service worldwide, particularly in unserved and underserved communities.

The mission is part of Amazon’s broader effort to build out its satellite-based internet system, increasing global connectivity and competing in the rapidly expanding commercial space communications sector.

The forecast from the U.S. Space Force’s Space Launch Delta 45 weather squadron for tonight’s launch of Atlas V indicates a 90 percent chance of acceptable conditions.

High pressure over the Western Atlantic is in control of the local weather. An easterly flow off the ocean poses a small chance of a Cumulus Cloud Rule violation during the launch window.

The launch time forecast for 1:45 a.m. EDT liftoff time includes a scattered clouds, good visibility, southeasterly winds 11 to 17 knots and a temperature near 71 degrees F.

If the launch moves to the backup opportunity on Sunday for some reason, there is a 90 percent chance of meeting the weather rules with similar conditions expected, the weather team says.
