BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – You can join Melbourne Beach glass artist Delynn Ellis for a fun, hands-on Make-Your-Own-Turtle glass workshop at the Barrier Island Center on Sunday, April 12.
The Barrier Island Center is located at 8385 South Highway A1A in Melbourne Beach.
In this creative class, students will choose their own colors and design a fused-glass turtle approximately 3 inches by 4 inches.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of cutting and designing with colorful art glass while exploring the fascinating process of glass fusing—the art of arranging glass pieces and melting them together in a kiln at extremely high temperatures.
The class is free, and the cost for materials is $30. Space is limited to 20 students.
All student creations will be fired off-site in a kiln and will be available for pickup at the sanctuary the following week or delivered to you with prepaid shipping.
Children are welcome to participate when accompanied by a parent who is also taking the class.
Come enjoy a relaxing, creative experience and leave with a beautiful glass turtle of your own design!
You can choose to add onto your turtle by turning it into an ornament, garden stake, napkin weight, or framed art.
Optional supplies for these enhancements can be purchased in class.
