FHSAA State Playoffs Starts This Week

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Multiple Brevard prep baseball teams have concluded their regular seasons and are now prepping for a chance at a state championship.
While there are some clear favorites, a couple of dark-horse teams will be eyeing to spoil some seasons.
Post-season baseball is one of the most exciting times in sports, as high school, college, and professional teams surprise fans every year.
This season, Brevard County has seen Merritt Island and Melbourne dominate, while the rest of the teams try to grind out wins on a weekly basis.
THE FRONT RUNNERS

The Merritt Island Mustangs (22-3), Class 4A, just wrapped up their district tournament with a 10-0 title win over Eau Gallie.
Merritt Island has been ranked within the top 20 teams in the state and has looked like a state championship contender from the first pitch of the season.
The Melbourne Bulldogs (19-4), Class 6A in Melbourne, just like Merritt Island, shut out an opponent to capture their district championship.
The Bulldogs cruised over Viera 6-0 and will now be hoping for a high seed, potentially a No. 1 seed, in the FHSAA state playoffs, which are right around the corner.
READY TO MAKE MOVES
Viera Hawks (18-5) Class 6A, Despite dropping to Melbourne in the district championship, the Hawks have a winning pedigree and will be confident heading into the playoffs.
The 2024-25 squad was just one win away from the state semifinals, and a return to the regional finals would not surprise anyone.
Eau Gallie Commodores (15-10) Class 4A, The district finale was quite forgettable, but when you have some experience and a legendary coach, Bob Collins, behind you, the Commodores can make moves.
Eau Gallie has won eight of its last ten and is starting to find its groove offensively.
