Eastern Florida State College Softball Players Earn NFCA All-Region South First Team Honors

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Four members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the NFCA NJCAA Division I All-Region South Team on Monday.
Sophomores Madison Velazquez, Annalyn Duncan, Aracelis Jimenez and Avery Velazquez were all honored on the first team.
First baseman Madison Velazquez hit .379 in 57 games with six home runs and drove in 51 runs and scored 34 times.
Second baseman Annalyn Duncan hit .424 this season with 14 home runs and has driven in 91 runs while scoring 60 times. The 91 RBI is third overall in NJCAA Division I.
Outfielder Aracelis Jimenez hit .449 with 25 RBI and 77 runs scored this season and stole 38 bases playing centerfield in 61 games. The 77 runs scored is 14th in the NJCAA while the 38 stolen bases are tied for 20th in the nation.
Pitcher and utility player Avery Velazquez is 12-6 this season with a 1.25 ERA in 112 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 82. At the plate, Velazquez is hitting .398 with 12 home runs and 71 RBI. Velazquez has scored 61 runs in 61 games.
Velazquez has now been named to the first tie in both their freshman and sophomore seasons, a first for the program.
Eastern Florida State College had the most first team players in the South Region.
The Titans will hear if they have an at-large bid to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament on Tuesday when the NJCAA announces the field at 6:30 p.m.
