BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Elton Leon Couch, 78, loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather — better known as “Honey,” “Pops,” and “Papa” — went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1947, in San Jose.

Elton worked as a diesel mechanic, long-haul truck driver, and legendary “horse trader.” There was no item he couldn’t trade or barter, especially if it involved knives.

A longtime resident of Brevard County, Elton was an original diehard fan of the Los Angeles Raiders. Of all the titles he held, the ones he treasured most were Honey, Pops, and Papa, as he was a “Papa” to every child who came through his front door.

Elton had a way of making every kid who walked through his front door feel like family, whether they were related or not.

Elton met Dana Salinas in the late 1980s, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, adventure, and more than a few stories worth repeating.

They married in 1997, beginning their journey on the West Coast of California before eventually settling on the East Coast of Florida, where they shared 29 wonderful years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Neal Couch.

Elton is survived by his loving wife, Dana; daughters Grace (Greg), Theresa (Phil), and Rebecca (Larry); sons Tony and Joe; sister Regina (Tony); brothers Thomas and Jerry (Brenda); grandchildren Abigail, Shannon Jr., Zoee, Mya, Makaylah, Kendra, Atheena, Jaxson, and Eli; and great-grandchildren Landon and Cooper; Nephews and Nieces. He is also survived by Shannon Brogan Sr. and Lucas, who were like a son and grandson to him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the beautiful life of Elton Leon Couch at a Celebration of Life on May 23, 2026, at Wickham Park (Sam Fuller Pavilion) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Finger foods and drinks will be provided.

In consideration of the warm weather, guests are encouraged to wear light, bright, and comfortable attire, as this will be a joyful celebration of Elton’s life.

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life…shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ our Lord.”
