Bobby Lee Culler was then taken into custody at 12:15 p.m. today at Cypress Ave. and Law St. in Melbourne without incident.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE – The Melbourne Police Department (MPD) apprehended fugitive Bobby Lee Culler through a collaboration of MPD and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Melbourne Police Department, officers located Culler at about 11 a.m. today, and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office helicopter responded to MPD’s request of assistance and was able to pinpoint Culler getting into the back seat of a vehicle.

Through a coordinated effort, the vehicle was stopped and surrounded by officers. Culler was then taken into custody at 12:15 p.m. at Cypress Ave. and Law St. in Melbourne without incident.

FLED FROM POLICE NUMEROUS TIMES

Culler had been evading arrest by the Melbourne Police Department for several days, and was suspected to have fled from police numerous times over the last week.

“The actions of the officers involved embody the highest example of standards and performance within the Melbourne Police Department,” said a MPD spokesperson. “Their quick response, teamwork, professionalism and actions under extreme stress conditions lead to the apprehension of a felony suspect.”
