Brevard Supervisor of Elections Announces Winners of Annual Launch the Vote Student Art Contest

BREVARD COUNTY – Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott recognized the winners of the Second Annual Launch the Vote Student Art Contest with an awards reception this morning in her office followed by a Resolution presentation at Tuesday’s County Commission Meeting. 

The Resolution was sponsored and presented by Commissioner Curt Smith who was one of the judges for this year’s event.

583 students, from 23 elementary schools in Brevard, submitted their artwork for this year’s contest.

First, second and third place entries were selected in addition to three Honorable Mentions.

The following winners were announced:

• First Place – Sarah Biesak (Viera Charter School)

• Second Place – Shelby Petracco (Ralph Williams)

• Third Place – Cheyenne Twiss (Westside)

• Honorable Mentions: Keith Santos (Mila Elementary), Brianna Firkel (Suntree Elementary) and Collin Acker (Westside Elementary).

Winners were presented with prizes from local Chick-fil-A locations, who have partnered with Supervisor Scott on the Art Contest for the past two years.

“We saw a 30 percent increase in this year’s entries,” said Supervisor Scott. 

“Having a great community partner like Chick-fil-A certainly encourages our young artists.”

The First Place winner received a Chick-fil-A party for 25 people; Second Place received a cookie party for the winner’s class; Third Place received meal cards for the winner’s immediate family.

All 583 student artists will receive a free Chick-fil-A sandwich coupon.

Artwork from all six students will be displayed in the Supervisor of Elections Viera Office for the next year.

First, Second, and Third place artwork will be displayed in Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout Brevard in the month of October.
