BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The Coast Guard medevaced a 75-year-old woman from a cruise ship, Tuesday 240 miles east of Jacksonville.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District received a notification at 5 a.m. from the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Pride.

Pride stating a female aboard was suffering an illness and required emergency medical assistance.

The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew to assist.

The Jayhawk crew hoisted the patient and the ship’s nurse and took them to Holmes Regional Medical Center at 1:15 p.m.
