James J. Costedio Mourned in Death

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – James J. Costedio, 80, of Viera, Florida, passed away on February 2, 2012, at Rockledge Hospice House, from complications of heart disease and Diabetes. Jim was born September 16, 1931, in Marlboro, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Medora (Bedard) Costedio. He married the love of his life, Barbara Harmon of Wollaston, Massachusetts, on March 12, 1960.
Jim retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years. He served two tours of duty in SE Asia and logged over 1000 hours of flight as a crew member of the C-47 “Gooney Bird”. After his Air Force career, Jim was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph for 20 years, before retiring to Viera.
Jim and Barbara devoted their retirement years to the grandchildren they simply adored. Jim will always be remembered for his love of his beloved Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. He always wore a favorite team hat to go with the season.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara; and their children, Kathleen and husband, Kevin Skope of Melbourne, Florida, Marie and husband Steve Perry of Miami, Florida; their grandchildren, Ryan and Deirdre Skope; and, his favorite nephew, Billy Meyer and his wife Carole of Yardley, Pennsylvania; as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Memorial Mass with Military Honors was held on March 3, 2012 at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 North Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32935.
Jim’s final internment will be held later this Spring in a private ceremony at The Massachusetts National Cemetery on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
