Florida Tech Men’s Tennis Completes First Day at ITA South Regional

LAKELAND, FLORIDA – Florida Tech entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Regional Championships with a limited roster due to injuries. The Panthers found victories in both the singles and doubles draws on day one of the championships at the Wynee Warden Tennis Complex on the campus of Florida Southern on Thursday.

Matic Leskovar led the Panthers with the only singles victory in the round of 64. Leskovar swept Eckerd’s Levy in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. In the round of 32, Leskovar fell to Pavel Mohja of Lynn, 7-5, 6-0.

In doubles, Riley Lorenz and Beau Fieldsend defeated Madison Durley and Beny Levy of Eckerd College, 8-3, in the first round. But the duo was eliminated in the round of 16 by Rollins’ Jason Alabaster and Cooper Maxwell, 8-6.

The ITA South Regional Championships will resume action tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with doubles play. The men’s draws will switch to the Beermann Family Tennis Center in Lakeland for day two.
