BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Community College women’s soccer team can advance one step closer to a postseason berth with a victory at home Friday against Broward College.

The Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference and NJCAA Region 8 game will be played beginning at 6 p.m. at Max K. Rodes Park in West Melbourne.

BCC defeated Broward 2-1 on Sept. 21 in Cooper City and followed it up with a 3-2 victory over Polk State College on Sept. 28 at Palm Bay Regional Park.

The victories put BCC’s conference and region record at 2-0. Polk is 1-1-1 and Broward 0-2-1.

The teams play each other three times apiece – BCC and Polk meet again at 7 p.m. Monday in Auburndale – to determine which one advances to the NJCAA postseason.

The tournament culminates in the NJCAA national championship from Nov. 11 to 17 at Melbourne Central Catholic High School.

Much is at stake for BCC, which is ranked No. 2 nationally by the NJCAA and seventh by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Titans head coach Jeff Carr expects a challenging match.

“Broward is a very tough team . . . we just squeaked out with a win last time,” Carr said referring to BCC’s comeback victory in the rain. “It should be another hard fought battle. Hopefully playing in front of our fans will help energize us.”
