Smoke From Brush Fire Closes Section Of I-95

Southbound Traffic Halted Near Malabar
BREVARD COUNTY • MALABAR, FLORIDA – Smoke drifting across the interstate near Malabar has resulted in the closure a a section of the highway on Thursday morning.
Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol said troopers have shut a section of southbound I-95 near Malabar because of a nearby brush fire.
The portion of the highway that is closed is near the Brevard County and Indian River County line.
If headed south, FHP is recommending motorists get off I-95 at Malabar Road, head east and use U.S. Highway 1 driving south to Sebastian Boulevard and turn right.
FHP said the road will return motorists to the open portion of I-95.
