Man Robs Credit Union To Go On Disney Cruise

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Cedrick Royce Swinson of North Carolina was arrested today for attempting to rob the Navy Federal Credit Union on SR A1A, according to a Satellite Beach Police spokesperson.
Swinson, 37, arrived in Brevard County by car after an overnight trip from North Carolina to take a Disney cruise with his girlfriend and her two children, ages 11 and 6. Satellite Beach police officials said that Swinson didn’t have any money, and couldn’t access his bank account to pay for the cruise, so he robbed the Satellite Beach credit union located in the in the Atlantic Shopping Plaza at about 10:30 this morning. There is no word on why he selected that particular location.
Swinson passed a note to the teller which said he had a weapon and then escaped north on A1A with an undisclosed amount of money, and his girlfriend and kids in his SUV.
According to law enforcement records, Swinson was transported to the county jail in Sharpes where he was booked on a variety of charges including grand theft and robbery, as well as driving on a suspended license.
Law enforcement authorities received an alarm set off by bank employees and apprehended Swinson just minutes later as he approached the Pineda Causway at A1A on his way to Port Canaveral.
Police said that Swinson’s girlfriend and her kids were unaware of the robbery.
