Following a public hearing during the Commission’s regular monthly meeting last week, Commissioners voted 4-0 (with one commissioner absent) to keep the rates the same in the coming year.

The rate will, however, increase by 2 percent in the following year and will be subject to adjustments in subsequent years depending on action taken by future commissioners.

Brevard County residents in unincorporated areas pay $125.70 annually for 2-1-1 collection service, which consists of twice weekly garbage collection and once-a-week collection both for recycling and yard waste.

By locking in this rate, the Commission adopted the second-lowest rate for curbside collection services in the county.
