Cancer Care Centers Health Fair Big Success

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Cancer Care Centers of Brevard and Cancer Care Centers Foundation hosted their third annual Multicultural Health Fair last Saturday, which offered free screenings to the public, and helped increase awareness of cancer.

In its combined efforts to provide the community access to important health education and screenings, Cancer Care Centers of Brevard and Cancer Care Centers Foundation are hosting its third annual Multicultural Health Fair on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Our main goal is to increase cancer awareness in the community,” said Dr. Ravi Shankar, Medical Director of Cancer Care Centers.

“Our Health Fair included screenings of the breast, the prostate, skin and vision. We were happy that many healthcare colleagues that share the same ideas and goals came and participated.”

The free event took place at Cancer Care Centers of Brevard, which is located on 1430 S. Pine Street in Melbourne.

“Everyone at Cancer Care Centers was very helpful,” said attendee Carleen Waszkiawicz.

The community was invited to attend this special event which offers free breast and prostate screenings by appointment only as well as diabetic, blood pressure, vision, and skin cancer screenings.

“I accompanied a friend who wanted to be screened for cancer.  They have a lot of helpful information here, and I will definitely come back next year.”

The community was invited to attend this special event which offers free breast and prostate screenings by appointment only as well as diabetic, blood pressure, vision, and skin cancer screenings.

The event included live music, refreshments, and health care vendors, including VITAS, WellCare and TEPAS Breast Center.

Physicians from Cancer Care Centers of Brevard and the Hispanic American Medical Association were on hand to answer questions, provide health information and screenings.
