TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA (SEMINOLES) – The Seminoles returned to the Albert J. Dunlap Athletic Training Facility for the 10th practice of the spring on Thursday and Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said the offense had one of its better days since returning from spring break nearly two weeks ago.

Wide receivers junior Auden Tate and redshirt sophomore George Campbell did not practice, allowing Fisher to get creative with his offensive sets.

“We moved tight ends out there, move running backs out there, interchange them with different personnel, be able to do those type of things,” Fisher said. “They learn from that way. Today was one of our better days, executed and threw the ball really well.”

“(We) Still got a lot of work to do. Some young guys are getting a lot of reps. Some guys are banged up here and there. It allows these younger guys some opportunities and they get to take advantage of it. Sometimes they don’t have to come out just because they’re young, so we’ll see. (We’re) Making progress but got a long way to go.”

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois continues to make progress as he moves into his second-year as the starting quarterback for the Seminoles.

The Orlando, Fla., native led all freshmen in passing yards (3,350 yards) in 2016, and guided FSU to four comeback victories – a number that could’ve been five if not for a last-second 54-yard field goal by North Carolina.

“This guy is a big time player,” Fisher said of Francois.

“He can lead, he is tough, accurate and can throw the ball. He will make a lot of money in this game one day. He is getting better and better. He has done some things wrong, but so have the rest of the guys. That’s the thing with the quarterback, they get all of the blame when things go wrong and all the glory. He probably played as well as anybody last year.”

Francois was the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2016 after tossing 20 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.

Another ACC honoree, senior defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, has sat out the last few practices with a pulled calf muscle.

“He will be fine,” Fisher said. “Nothing serious, but we will keep an eye on it.”

The Seminoles will take off Friday before returning to practice on Saturday.
