Florida Tech To Open 2017 Season Tonight Against Virginia University of Lynchburg at Panther Stadium

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech football team opens its 2017 season by facing Virginia University of Lynchburg this Saturday night, Sept. 2, at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.

The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.

VUL is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The Dragons are 0-1 entering Saturday’s ball game after a 41-10 loss to Louisburg College on Sunday. VUL is led by head coach Jimmy Joe, who is in his first season at the school.

FIT enters its fifth season and has increased its win total every year since the inaugural campaign. After posting a record of 8-3 and making their first postseason appearance a year ago, the Panthers are looking to continue their upward trajectory.

The Gulf South Conference’s top scoring team in 2016 (37.4 points per game) should again feature a high-flying offense with much of its weapons returning, while the defense is primed to dominate its opponents under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Rick Minter.

As you make your plans to attend Florida Tech’s season opener on Saturday, here is some pertinent information regarding parking and tailgating to consider.

Ticketing Information

Football single game tickets for this weekend’s game are still on sale. Tickets cost $16 for adult reserved seating and $14 for senior, child and FIT employee reserved seating. Adult general admission tickets are $12, while senior, child and FIT employee general admission tickets are $6.

Season tickets are also available purchase. The cost for adult reserved season tickets is $56 and senior, child and FIT employee tickets are $36. Adult general admission season tickets are $40, while senior, child and FIT employee general admission tickets are $24.

Parking Information

Parking at the Palm Bay Magnet High School and adjacent parking areas is $5 per vehicle, cash only. General parking can be purchased in advance on a season basis through the Florida Tech Ticket Office. Parking attendants will direct fans to the parking areas. Parking lots open two hours prior to the game. There is no tailgating permitted of any kind in these lots. PBMHS is a tobacco free campus.

Parking at Florida Tech is free of charge and free shuttle service is provided to and from Palm Bay Magnet High School.

Tailgating Information

Tailgating is only permitted on Florida Tech’s campus in designated areas and begins three hours before kickoff. For the Virginia Lynchburg game, tailgating will begin at 4 p.m. There is no charge for tailgating.

Alcohol and grilling are only permitted in the designated areas of FIT campus. Open fire grilling is not permitted in the parking garage. There is an area set aside for tents in the Panther Den, located to the east of the Varsity Training Center on the southwest corner of FIT’s campus.

The Panther Prowl, the name of the team’s pregame walk from the Denius Student Center to the Varsity Training Center, will begin at about 4 p.m.

For those interested in purchasing FIT gear before heading to the stadium, the bookstore on campus will be open from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Denius Student Center. The bookstore will also have its merchandise trailer at the game, in the concourse near the concession stand, for fans interested in getting gear at the game.

Food and beverage will be available for sale at the concession stand at Florida Tech Panther Stadium, provided by The Broken Barrel. Outside food and beverage is not allowed inside the stadium.
