Five Florida Tech Panthers Are All-GSC, Adonis Davis, Antwuan Haynes First Team for Second Straight Season

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Gulf South Conference released its 2017 All-Conference Football Teams on Wednesday and five Panthers were among the student-athletes honored by the league. 

Adonis Davis and Antwuan Haynes were voted to the All-GSC First Team, while Romell Guerrier, J.T. Hassell and Kevin Purlett were named to the Second Team.

Davis, a native of Columbus, Ohio, is making his second straight appearance on the All-GSC First Team. The junior defensive lineman finished the season with 59 total tackles. He led the league in tackles for loss with 19.0 and ranked second in sacks with 7.5, both totals were single season program records.

A junior, Haynes is also appearing on the first team for the second consecutive season. The running back ranked second in the GSC in rushing in 2017 with 1,035 yards and 94.1 yards per game, his second straight 1,000-yard season. The Fort Lauderdale product was also fourth in the league with seven rushing touchdowns and 110.5 all-purpose yards per game.

Guerrier ranked seventh in the GSC with 501 receiving yards on 37 receptions. The Miami native caught three touchdown passes this season and averaged 45.5 yards per game in his junior season, eighth-best in the league.

A junior linebacker, Hassell finished fifth in the conference with 78 total tackles on 30 assisted tackles and 48 solo stops. The Titusville product ranked 12th in the GSC with 9.0 tackles for loss.

Purlett rounds out the Panthers’ All-GSC selections. The sophomore tight end finished the season with 17 receptions for 348 yards and two touchdowns. His 20.5 average yards per catch were highest in the league in 2017.
