recognizing kids in our schools and community that are helping others to make a difference

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – I had the pleasure of recognizing South Lake Elementary School student Jonah Van Hamed as the recipient of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office “Great Kids” Award.
Jonah is a Kindergartner who was nominated by Titusville Police Department Resource Officer Andrews.
In addition, I also had the honor of recognizing Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School sophomore, Raven Head as the recipient of another “Great Kids” Award after Raven was nominated by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputy James Darville.
The “Sheriff’s Great Kid” Award was created by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to recognize kids in our schools and community that are doing it right by helping others, being respectful, showing great character and of course, working with their teachers to make a difference.
Unfortunately, the kids that don’t do it right seem to be the ones who get the most attention, so the concept of this program is to recognize the good kids for the behavior and to let others know how important it is to always try and do the right thing.
Please join me in congratulating Jonah and Raven for being “Great Kids” and also in thanking their parents for attending this week’s presentations.
