BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized longtime volunteer Tony Antonuccio with January’s VCOP Spotlight.

In 1995, Antonuccio and his wife moved to Florida, and two years later he was recruited to be a VCOP – and at 86 years old he’s still going strong.

Antonuccio says he’s always been interested in “police things” and he’s done a little bit of everything as a VCOP.

Over the years, he has served at the front desk when it was just a small desk with an emergency button in the middle of the lobby, patrolled shopping center parking lots during the holidays, did house checks, traffic control and provided courier service.

“He just enjoys working for the community and at 25 years of service, he is the longest-serving VCOP around,” said Palm Bay police officials.

He is the full-time caregiver for his wife, who together have three children and five grandchildren.

If you would like to become a VCOP like Tony, send an email to VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or call 321-953-8987.
