BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department has recognized Angela Duran and Moises Reinoso with December’s VCOP Spotlight.
“Never waste a minute! Angela and Moises certainly live by that rule,” said Palm Bay police officials.
It’s no surprise that these northerners moved to Florida because they like the weather, but they didn’t come here to sit around. Angela, who has one son, is a home health aide who loves working with the elderly.
You might also find her checking out the newest thrift shop items. Her flair for and love of interior design is evident in her home.
Moises, a father to three children, keeps the scissors busy as a barber at VIP Barbershop here in Palm Bay. You might find him working on his latest project around their house because he loves building things.
Moises started with the VCOP program in July 2020 to be involved in the community and meet new people.
It wasn’t long before he convinced Angela to join him. She says Monday is her favorite day of the week because that’s their day to serve as VCOPs.
Together they do such things as assisting the police department with directing traffic at public events, parades, and accident scenes, patrolling their assigned neighborhoods and conducting house and commercial security checks.
Being bilingual provides additional expertise during all their support activities.
If you have four hours a week to spare and would like to become a VCOP like Angela and Moises, send an email to VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or call 321-953-8987.
