Florida Tech Lacrosse Players Rozgonyi, Hulsman Named Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week

Hulsman made 27 saves and a .519 save percentage over last 2 games

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After guiding Florida Tech to wins over Embry-Riddle and No. 12 Florida Southern last week, Zach Rozgonyi and John Hulsman have been selected the Sunshine State Conference’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
This marks the third SSC Offensive Player of the Week award for Rozgonyi and the second defensive player of the week award for Hulsman this season.
Rozgonyi recorded eight goals, two assists, 15 ground balls, and one caused turnover over the two games.
The Elkridge, Maryland product scored 5 goals and picked up 5 ground balls in the Panthers’ 15-12 win over Embry-Riddle on Wednesday.
The sophomore attackman then recorded tallied three goals, two assists, 10 ground balls and one caused turnover, including scoring the game-winning goal, in Tech’s 14-13 overtime victory over Florida Southern on Saturday.
After Saturday’s game, Rozgonyi became the program’s single-season record holder for points (55), goals (40), and hat tricks (8).
Hulsman made 27 total saves and had a .519 save percentage over the two victories. The Westminster, Md. native recorded nine saves and three ground balls in the game against Embry-Riddle.
The graduate student then tied a season-high with 18 saves to go along with one assist and one ground ball and a .581 save percentage in the Panthers’ overtime win over the Moccasins. With Saturday’s result, Hulsman became the third goalie in program history to earn 10 wins.
SSC Tournament home field advantage is on the line as the Panthers close out the regular season on the road against No. 13 Rollins on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at Barker Family Stadium in Winter Park.
