Eau Gallie Commodores Clinch First-Ever State Championship Appearance After Dominating Columbia 6-0

Eau Gallie will face off against the No. 1 Jesuit Tigers for the state title on Saturday

The Eau Gallies commodore advance to the FHSAA Class 5A State Championship after defeating Columbia 6-0 in the State Semifinals in Fort Myers Thursday. No. 3 Eau Gallie will face off against the No. 1 Jesuit Tigers for the state title on Saturday at 1 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eau Gallies Commodore baseball team advanced to the FHSAA Class 5A State Championship after defeating Columbia 6-0 in the state semifinals in Fort Myers Thursday.

No. 3 Eau Gallie will face off against the No. 1 Jesuit Tigers for the state title on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Commodores junior starting pitcher Garrett Smith completed the shutout with 12 strikeouts.

Senior third baseman Brandon Bragg finished the game with the most hits in the game with 3.

How They Got Here

In round one of the playoffs, the Commodores cruised to an 8-o win over Zephyrhills. Next, Eau Gallie continued their playoff run and quest for gold as the Commodores defended home field once again defeating Cypress Creek 2-0.

After, the Commodores went on to defeat New Smyrna in an 8-7 hard-fought battle.

Finally, in the state semifinals Eau Gallie clinched a state championship berth after defeating Columbia High School in a shutout 6-0 victory.

Eau Gallie will make their first-ever baseball state championship appearance in program history on Saturday.
