OBITUARY: U.S. Navy Veteran and Avid Fisherman Harry ‘Skip’ Harris, 77, of Merritt Island, Passed Away

Skip's marriage to wife and best friend of 35 years, Theresa, was his favorite accomplishment

Harry “Skip” Harris, 77, of Merritt Island passed away suddenly on April 30, 2022. An avid fisherman, he was the former president of the Florida Sport Fishing Association and organizer of the Kid’s Fishing Clinic. Skip had a zest for life that included a love of golf, cooking, travel, food, drink, and cigars.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Harry “Skip” Harris, 77, of Merritt Island passed away suddenly on April 30, 2022. An avid fisherman, he was the former president of the Florida Sport Fishing Association and organizer of the Kid’s Fishing Clinic. Skip had a zest for life that included a love of golf, cooking, travel, food, drink, and cigars.

Skip was always ready to entertain friends and guests for birthday celebrations, special occasions, and boat parade parties. Originally from Eustis, Florida, he joined the US Navy and lived abroad in Spain. Skip moved to Brevard County in 1981 and it was his marriage to wife and best friend of 35 years, Theresa, that was his favorite accomplishment.

Skip is survived by his wife, Theresa; sister and brother-in-law Robin and Bobby Meyer; nephew David Lee; niece Sandy Dela Cruz and great-nephew Ryan; stepson Conrad Melancon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Al & Ann Lutheran; niece Christine Lutheran; and faithful Yellow Lab, Butter.

He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Willis Christopher; parents Harry Carl Harris Sr. and Louise; brother-in-law Jim Brigotti; nephew Brian Lutheran; and beloved pets Tia and Toby.
