BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Join the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce for the 34th Annual Business Champion of the Year Awards on Friday, September 16, at the Space Coast Association of Realtors, 2950 Pineda Plaza Way.

The event is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Dinner and program will follow.

General admission to the Business Champion of the Year Awards is $50 per person.

Port Canaveral Commissioner Robyn Hattaway, who has now set her sights on serving District 30 of the Florida House, will be this year’s guest speaker.

The Business Champion of the Year Awards Ceremony is the biggest opportunity of the year for Cocoa Beach Chamber partners to honor fellow businesses and recognize those businesses that are dedicated to improving the community.

Categories for Business Champion of the Year include:

■ Medium Business (26-100 Employees)

■ Large Business (101 – 500 Employees)

■ Non-Profit Organization

■ Start-Up Business (In operation for at least one year, but not more than three years)

Commissioner  Hattaway was elected to the Canaveral Port Authority in 2018 and is the second woman on the Commission since its inception. Soon after being sworn in, she founded the Junior Port Ambassador Program: a workforce development program connecting high school students in with port partners and career paths.

Commissioner Hattaway served as Treasurer/Secretary of the Commission in 2021, seeing the Port through one of its hardest years, the shutdown of the cruise industry during the COVID pandemic.

Hattaway is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Emory University School of Law. She is presently admitted to practice law in Florida (2010) and Georgia (2001) and a member of the Florida Bar Health Law and Business Law Sections.

Florida House District 30, which runs through southeast Volusia County, from Port Orange south into the north side of Titusville in Brevard County, has a strong Republican contingent.

Soon after being sworn in as a Port Canaveral Commissioner, Hattaway founded the Junior Port Ambassador Program, which is a workforce development program connecting high school students with port partners and career paths.

“I am always looking for an opportunity to serve the community, as well as to preserve the community for my kids so they want to come back and raise their families here,” said Hattaway.
