BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Canaveral Port Authority Commissioner Robyn Hattaway, who is just the second woman to serve on the commission since its inception, has now set her sights on serving District 30 of the Florida House.
Florida House District 30, which runs through southeast Volusia County, from Port Orange south into the north side of Titusville in Brevard County, has a strong Republican contingent.
Soon after being sworn in as a Port Canaveral Commissioner, Hattaway founded the Junior Port Ambassador Program, which is a workforce development program connecting high school students with port partners and career paths.
She served as Treasurer/Secretary of the Commission in 2021 and again in 2022 and guided the port through one of its hardest years during the shutdown of the cruise industry during the COVID pandemic.
“I am always looking for an opportunity to serve the community, as well as to preserve the community for my kids so they want to come back and raise their families here,” said Hattaway.
A lawyer based on Merritt Island, Hattaway is a Presbyterian pastor’s daughter and has vast experience from living throughout the country. Her roots are now firmly planted in central Florida and they run deep, with family across Titusville to Cocoa Beach and Indian Harbour Beach.

Hattaway is adamant about preserving the district’s quality of life and she sees both the industries and environment as the region’s greatest assets.
As a port commissioner, she defeated nine-time Port Commissioner Mac McLouth, and then fought for accountability for public dollars with a fiscal conservative policy, and challenged the status quo the moment she won her seat.
Hattaway has been endorsed by former Rep. Rene Plasencia, who resigned last month, and represented much of the area now included in the newly drawn Florida House District 30.
“I had the honor of serving many of the people in the area of District 30 through my time in the House,” said Plasencia.
“I know the kind of leader we need to represent us and the kind of person it takes to be successful in Tallahassee — Robyn meets both qualities and knows how to put her constituents first, because she has already done it on the port authority.”
She has also worked with the Brevard County School Board to create a Junior Port Ambassador Program, which connects Space Coast area high school students to career paths at the port.
Hattaway has volunteered with LEAD Brevard, Health First Foundation, Family Promise of Brevard, Brevard Public Schools, Literacy for Adults in Brevard and the Central Florida Sharing Center.
As an attorney, Hattaway focuses on business litigation and transactions, and began her career in litigation representing large publicly held corporations in complex business disputes.
She has experience in both federal and state courts and her practice includes civil litigation, real property litigation, franchise transactions and development, as well as business litigation.
Hattaway attended the University of Texas before heading to Emory University School of Law in Atlanta to receive her law degree.
Hattaway and her husband, Dr. Aaron Hattaway, are the parents of Willson, a freshman in college and Davis, a junior in high school.
“Whiskey River” is the family’s rescued Springer/Labrador mix, named for her love of Willie Nelson and all country music. The Hattaway family has strong ties to central Florida with several generations calling Brevard home.
