BPS Announces No Changes to School Schedules With Looming Storm ‘Nicole’

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools announced on Monday that there is no plan to change school schedules this week, for right now, as Subtropical Storm Nicole is projected to strike Florida’s East Coast later this week.
That plan could change if conditions get progressively worse.
“The leadership of Brevard Public Schools is currently monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole, which is forecasted to impact Florida on Wednesday and Thursday,” said BPS in a released statement.
“At this point, there is no change to school schedules for BPS.”
As of Monday afternoon, Brevard County is under a Hurricane Watch.
The storm is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph.
According to National Hurricane Center’s latest report. A slower northwestward motion is expected later this afternoon through tonight.
The storm is expected to turn toward the west or west-southwest is then forecast to begin by Tuesday night and that motion should continue through early Thursday.
The center of Nicole will approach the northwestern Bahamas on Tuesday and Tuesday night, move near or over those islands on Wednesday, and approach the east coast of Florida Wednesday night.
