ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Orlando City SC has signed defender Kyle Smith to a new contract guaranteed through 2023, with a Club option in 2024, it was announced Monday.

“We’re so happy to get Kyle signed to a new deal and have him with us for potentially another couple years,” said EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi.

“Throughout his time in Orlando, he’s answered every call and played every role that we’ve asked him to. His versatility and dependability are vital to our plans as we look to win more trophies in 2023.”

In his first four seasons in Orlando, Smith has made 68 starts in 109 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He appeared in all of City’s matches in its U.S.

Open Cup Championship run and played a pivotal role in bringing the Club’s first trophy in the MLS era to the City Beautiful.

The Cincinnati, Ohio, native joined the Lions ahead of their 2019 season when he was signed from Louisville City of the USL Championship.
