What is the different purpose between LED & conventional light sources:
LED lights:
In comparison to conventional light sources that convert electrical energy into heat, then into light, LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are able to convert electrical energy directly into light, resulting in high efficiency light generation with little or no electricity wasted.
As far as LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are concerned, they are mainly used for illuminating objects and even places in a house. The compact size of the device, the low energy consumption, the extended lifetime, and the flexibility of its use in a wide range of applications allow it to be used everywhere.
Conventional light sources:
The light emitted by conventional sources is, on the other hand, directed in all directions. In order to modulate the light, an optical system such as reflectors and lenses is used in order to direct it in a certain direction.
When an LED light source is used as a source of illumination, the amount of lumens which fall on the intended task area is higher than when an LED light source is used as an illumination source.
What is the different working way between LED lighting & conventional light sources:
LED lights:
During the flow of current through a light-emitting diode (LED), the semiconductor emits light, as a result of the flow of current. In a semiconductor, electrons recombine with electron holes, releasing energy in the form of photons when the electrons recombine with electron holes.
Conventional light sources:
An incandescent bulb produces light by heating a metal filament with electricity until it becomes white hot, which is referred to as an incandescence. Because of this, incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat as a result of their burning process.
How long do LED lights and conventional light sources last?
A LED light bulb is typically rated for a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, which is a very long lifespan. An incandescent bulb will last about 50 times longer, a halogen bulb will last 20-25 times longer, and a Compact Fluorescent Light will last 8 to 10 times longer than a typical incandescent bulb.
Depending on how long the LED is used in a day, a 50,000 hour LED will last more than 11 years if used 12 hours a day.
A typical incandescent lamp has a life expectancy of about 1,000 hours, while a comparable CFL has a life expectancy of 8,000 to 10,000 hours, and a linear fluorescent lamp can last for more than 30,000 hours.
LED lights vs conventional light sources – Which light consumes more electricity?
Generally speaking, LED lights are more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs or compact fluorescent lights, and they last longer as well.
When you switch from incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs over 25,000 hours, you will save thousands of dollars in electricity costs, as well as thousands of dollars in labor costs over the same period of time.
Therefore, LED bulbs provide the most efficient light because they use very little energy on heat, which means the electricity is concentrated on producing light rather than on wasting it on heat.
The most energy is wasted by incandescent bulbs. The CFLs do not perform all that much better, releasing more than 80% of the energy in the form of heat.
A final point to be made is that LEDs are a highly energy-efficient lighting technology that has the potential to fundamentally change the future of lighting in the U.S. LED lights in residential homes — especially those rated as ENERGY STAR products — use at least 75% less energy and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent lights, which is why LED lights are becoming more and more popular
This is why more and more traditional light source manufacturers choose to transform into LED light manufacturers, or add LED light products on the basis of the original products, which is probably a last resort.
