PUBLIC SERVICE SPOTLIGHT: Palm Bay Police Officer Dave Ballard Retires After 20 Years of Dedicated Service

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Officer Dave Ballard has retired after 24 years of dedicated service to the community and its citizens.

During his service with the Palm Bay Police Department, Officer Ballard was also a member of the Army National Guard and Reserve and retired from honorable service in March 2013.

Throughout Officer Ballard’s career, he has been assigned to every District in the city and served with the Department’s Crisis Negotiations Team in the early 2000s.

As a member of the U.S. Army, Officer Ballard achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class as an Infantry NCO and the rank of Captain as a Special Forces Officer.

Officer Ballard was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, among his other duty stations, during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

“Although he is taking a wealth of knowledge and experience with him, we are extremely grateful for his dedication and commitment to serving our community,” said Palm Bay Police spokesperson.

“Please join us in wishing Officer Ballard all the best as he enters retirement and thanking him for his many years of service to the City of Palm Bay.”
