Brevard Schools Foundation Partners With Brevard Indo-American Medical & Dental Association On New Scholarship

BIMDA Scholarship is in honor of Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal and Dr. Mahesh Soni
BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Indo-American Medical & Dental Association, a Brevard County not-for-profit medical and dental association, recently donated $25,000 to endow a scholarship that will benefit students in Brevard Public Schools. Brevard Schools Foundation announced The BIMDA Scholarship is in honor of Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal and Dr. Mahesh Soni.
“BSF has done an outstanding job of assisting students aspiring to go to college for STEM and Health Science degrees,” said Glad Kurian, BIMDA Founder and Honorary Executive Director.
“Education is the greatest investment in our young adults. We wish all recipients great success in their education and career,” said Kurian is a former Board Member of Brevard Schools Foundation.
The BIMDA Scholarship in honor of Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal and Dr. Mahesh Soni will ensure the doctors’ legacy for years to come. Students pursuing majors in Health Sciences will be invited to apply for the scholarship.

From their past support of our Supply Zone for Teachers and Scholarship programs, they demonstrate their deep commitment to the importance of education,” said Janice Kershaw, Brevard Schools Foundation President/CEO.
Brevard Schools Foundation has awarded more than 1,200 scholarships to graduating seniors valued at nearly $1.2 million. Designating a scholarship allows members of the community to invest in talent from our local area, support student career goals, and help our children succeed.
“Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal is a pioneering leader of the Indian-American medical community in Brevard County, Florida and founded ‘Indian Association of the Space Coast, IASC’ in 1991in Melbourne, Florida,” said Dr. Homi Cooper, Board of Regents, BIMDA.
“A leading ophthalmologist, Dr. Aggarwal opened Brevard County’s first Outpatient Surgery Center at Eye Clinic, Merritt Island. The son of a science teacher in India, Dr. Aggarwal valued the power of education since a very young age, graduating at the top of his class all the way to a national medical entrance exam. We value Dr. Aggarwal deeply and are blessed to call him a friend.”
Annually, the Brevard Schools Foundation opens a scholarship portal to graduating seniors publishing scholarship opportunities, assembles and conducts a review panel to select scholarship recipients, announces the awards, and pays out the awards. Donors are invited to participate in the process.
Dr. Mahesh Soni is a Founding President of BIMDA, 1999. A pediatrician since 1980, and has dedicated his life to the betterment of children and the community at large.
“Dr. Soni has served as Continuing Medical Education “CME” Chair for 25 years. He is compassionate about charitable and social work, donating his time and talent generously. His passion for Indian Classical and Bollywood music is relentless,” said BIMDA Chairman & President Dr. Subhash Rege.
