BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Lucas Miquel Gonzalez, 61, died on December 1, 2022, after an extended illness. He is survived by his three children and all of his siblings and their families.
Lucas was born on March 22, 1961, in Rockledge, Florida to Jose Luis and Amelia Gonzalez. He was the sixth and last child, following siblings Luis, Ruben, Carlos, David, and Margarita (Margie).
His childhood was not an easy one. When Lucas was three years old, his mother got sick and moved to Texas to receive care. His father was now a single dad with six children. Lucas’ dad worked at what is now known as Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, where he was instrumental in the early phases of the Space Program.
Lucas was a lifelong resident of Brevard County, attending Cocoa High School where he was active in sports. He worked primarily in the construction industry.
Lucas is remembered as being funny and talented. He was always ready to share a laugh with his friends and family. Lucas could write a beautiful poem on the spot, just by knowing your name. You only had to meet him once and you had a friend for life.
Lucas was a member of Suntree United Methodist Church, but no matter where he was, he was ready to tell you about Jesus and his love for Him. Lucas’ life was not an easy one, but he managed to touch many people along the way.
Lucas’ family and friends gathered on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Satellite Beach to say their final goodbyes to Lucas Miguel Gonzalez.
