Eastern Florida State Golf Team Captures First Place at Dan York Memorial Tournament in Alabama

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team won the Dan York Memorial Tournament Tuesday at the Cross Creek Golf Course in Cullman, Alabama.

The Titans shot a 285 in the final round to defeat host Wallace State by seven strokes.

“Well done by the team,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Sophomore Adam Vermut shot a 4-under 68 in the final round to finish tied for second in the tournament with a 211. Freshman Mason McKain shot a 71 to finish tied for fourth in his first collegiate event while sophomore Bryan Hernandez also had a 71 and finished with a 216. Nicholas Miller and Jamie Chepenik each shot a 75 in the final round.

It marks the second time in the past three seasons that the Titans have won the Dan York Memorial Tournament.

Eastern Florida State College will play in the Southeast District Preview at Snead State on Sept. 25-26.
